CaseFile is the matter cockpit. Folders and files, notes, an audit-aware notification bell, and one-click launchers into BillableHour, AppositeCase, DiscoveryBridge, and SpotlightAuthority — all in the context of the open matter. Eventually a small Outlook widget routes new e-filing notifications straight into the right case.
What it does
Folders and files per matter
Drag-drop or API upload. Versioned. Same KMS-encrypted bucket as DiscoveryBridge, different prefix, same isolation rules. Tag files PRIVILEGED / WORK_PRODUCT / PRODUCED / RECEIVED.
Notes that find their way back
Quick markdown notes attached to a matter or a folder. Searchable. Authored-by + audit trail. The 3 AM thought finds its way to the morning brief.
Service launcher
Open the matter inside BillableHour to log time, AppositeCase to find supporting authority, DiscoveryBridge to review production, or SpotlightAuthority to highlight cited passages. All in context — no copy/pasting matter IDs.
Notifications bell
Top-right icon with an unread count. New e-filing, signature received, time entry edited by a colleague, payment posted. Click-through to the source. The 'have I missed something?' anxiety, off the table.
Outlook widget (later)
Small Office add-in. Open an e-filing email from the court, click 'Add to CaseFile.' The widget extracts cause number + caption, matches your matter, files the PDF in the E-filings folder, and pings the notification bell.
Built on the same Matter
No duplicate data. The matter you log time on, exchange discovery on, run conflicts on, and now file documents and notes on — it’s all the same row in the database. One audit trail. One access control list.
